A downloadable masterpiece for Windows

Disclaimer: I made this game in about five hours. It's not good.

Play as Forse - an unholy union of fist and horse - on a quest to free his equine brethren from their stables (get it? unstable? never mind).

This game was made for Ludum Dare 49 with the theme "Unstable".

Controls

- Mash buttons to produce freedom!

- Press spacebar at the right time to punch a stable (once freedom is maxxed)!

- Try to free as many friends as possible without missing three stables! There's no story or endgame.

Credits

Everything made by me, in about five total hours over the weekend. Unfortunately, Ludum Dare fell on a really busy weekend for me, but I didn't let that stop me from making this... thing... to share with the world, and keep my Compo streak going!

- Music made in Beepbox.co (beepbox.co/)

- Sounds made with SFXR (http://www.drpetter.se/project_sfxr.html) and Audacity (https://www.audacityteam.org/)

- Art made in Paint.NET (https://www.getpaint.net/)

- Code made in Python with PyGame (https://www.pygame.org/news)

Install instructions

Download and extract the zip, then run UnstableThem.exe.

If you have issues getting the game to run:

  • You may have to whitelist the executable for Windows Defender to not automatically remove it.
  • You want to make sure you're running from the correct directory (e.g. double click the executable in its folder, not through another context like the Windows search bar)
  • If you're wanting to run from Linux, you can download the source code folder and run with Python 3.7 or higher (and pygame installed)
  • If you're still unable to get the game to work, let me know in the comments here or on the Ludum Dare listing! Pyinstaller is often finnicky.
